20x24 print on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl 285g/m paper. Part of a series of floral image photographed in a studio environment Floral #601 features Red Ginger (Alpinia purpurata) — a tropical plant native to Malaysia and the South Pacific, prized for its vivid, cone-shaped flower spikes. This high-contrast botanical macro study heightens the glowing pinks and reds against deep, shadowed backgrounds, giving each bract cluster a heavy, waxy, almost sculptural presence. The repetitive, curved bracts catch the light in a way that strikingly resembles the shimmering scales of a swimming koi fish, transforming a natural botanical subject into a complex study of organic architecture and repeating form.
