Despite its name, this is not a floral chemical. It's synonym, in fact, gives a better idea of what it is used for: Citrolate. Floralate is a dry bitter-fresh grapefruit material with (as is so often the case with aromatics of this type,) rhubarb nuances. It lacks the juiciness of citrus which makes it an interesting material to take a cologne in a very novel direction. It is long lasting so it is useful for extending citrus oil (not just grapefruit) into the heart of a perfume. A touch of Nootkatone and a judicious use of vetiver Haiti can further extend it into the dry down. For stewed fruit accords which may be on the sickly side, floralate can offer a much needed dryness.
