Flatten a UV light on the wall at midnight and it burns neon greenCentruroides gracilis, the Florida Bark Scorpion, is a slim, dark, long-legged climber that lives pressed flat aga inst tree trunks and tucked under loose bark. Despite the name it is really a Central American species that has also naturalized in Florida. It hunts at night, scales cork like it was born on it, and lights up neon green under a UV flashlight. Keep a group and you get a whole colony doing it at once.This is a buthid with a genuine sting, so it is a hands-off, experienced-keeper animal, Spice 3 and best for intermediate hands ready to respect it. The upside: they tolerate each other in communal groups, build up nicely, and put on a real climbing and glowing show. Give them a vertical cork-bark enclosure and let them do their thing.
