Item Name: The Flow - Summer 2023 SKU: FLOW-SUMMER-2023 Description: Flow Summer 2023 is a print and digital issue of The Flow® magazine that highlights contemporary flameworking a nd functional glass with a strong emphasis on vessels, cups, and bottle forms. This issue includes a dedicated vessels gallery featuring 18 flameworking artists and a wide range of surface and forming approaches, including ocean scenes, skulls, stylized eyeballs, honeycomb patterning, fuming, implosion techniques, birds, flowers, mushrooms, dots, mazes, and abstract design work. It also contains feature articles that dig into both technique and story, including an in-depth look at Avant-Garde Art Glass and its carved-wall technology, with reporting by Joe Samuelson III and photography by Merry Kelley. Another highlighted story covers “Pints with Friends,” a large-scale collaborative functional glass project by Jake Colito in which artists contribute focal elements that are then built into finished pint glasses, with details on the collection, display, and sale of the work in August 2023. How it is used: This issue is used as both inspiration and practical reference for lampworkers and functional glass artists who want to study current vessel trends, surface treatments, and collaborative project models. Artists can use the vessels gallery as a visual idea bank for cup and bottle composition, focal placement, and pattern planning, then apply those concepts directly at the torch. The feature articles are useful for understanding how specific looks are achieved, how artists develop signature processes, and how bodies of work are presented and sold. Many studios keep issues like this on hand as a bench-side reference for design direction, technique exploration, and market awareness. Show more
