It is not very often that we come across Fluorite crystals from Norway for sale and yet there are a surprising number of places where it does occur. One of those places is the area around Dalen in the Telemark region. There are a few localities there, but the most famous is the Tveitsto fluorite mine and although this large crystal from Arvid Pasto's famous worldwide Fluorite collection is simply labelled as from Dalen there is good reason to suspect that it is from the Tveitsto mine. Although not colourful, or gemmy, crystals from that mine never are, and this one is rather large too, with the main crystal reaching about 3.5 cm on edge. It is not complete but does show a good overall cubic shape, missing parts of two edges of its front face. Frosted and cream to pale amber in colour, internally its core is very different - a dark, almost purple colour. A smaller, more complete cubic crystal is attached to one side of the main crystal and another crystal rises out of one of the other side faces of the main crystal.
