Renowned for some of the finest strikingly coloured Fluorite crystals not just in France, but Europe too, the Le Burg mine (Le Burc mine) near Tarn in Midi-Pyrénées, France is perh aps best known for its strikingly colour-zoned blue crystals. Their blue colour is quite distinctive, presenting an almost electric-blue tone. At 3.1 cm along its longest edge and with nearly the entirety of its front-face complete (save for a couple of very slightly cleaved corners) this is a really superb individual crystal of this remarkable colour Fluorite and with beautiful classic zonation too. From the front its zonation is good, with a deeper blue core passing outwards to almost colourless and then with a lighter blue thin outer band. However, it is from the sides that this piece excels, with a staggering intensity to its colour across all three zones and this persists in all four directions when viewed from the sides. The rear of the crystal is missing parts of several edges where it sits upon a rough purple and yellow zoned Fluorite crystal core, but this is largely irrelevant when all of the focus is upon the main crystal.
