This very distinctive crystallized Fluorite specimen is from Rottleberode, near Stolberg, Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Active mining for fluorspar (the commercial name for Fluorit e) ended at Rottleberode in 1990 but well crystallized display specimens are a great rarity. This very lovely small cabinet-sized specimen from Rottleberode is extremely good looking and very characteristic of this famous deposit. Upon it, three main crystals (the largest reaching an impressive 5 cm on edge) form in a spiral-like order, each with distinctive natural truncated corners. All of these crystals are extremely glassy in appearance, and transparent, with a colourless to extremely pale sea-green colour, but with fascinating white opaque internal phantom Fluorite crystals. It has a sawn base but this does not appear to detract from the wonderful display that these crystals provide. Show more
