Fly Rite Extra-Fine Poly Dubbing Fly Rite Dubbing is a premium, ultra-fine synthetic polypropylene fly-tying material trusted by serious tiers worldwide for its exceptional water resistance, lightweight buoyancy, and perfect handling control. Engineered specifically to create tight, smoothly tapered bodies, this dubbing is an indispensable choice for tying everything from microscopic midges to classic, heavy-hatch dry flies. Unlike standard polyester blends, true polypropylene has a density less than water, meaning it inherently floats. It blends beautifully, creating a natural, translucent, buggy appearance that holds its profile drift after drift. Whether you are matching a precise local hatch or building realistic sub-surface nymph bodies, Fly Rite provides the consistency and premium color palette you need to produce high-quality flies every time. Shop Insider Tips & Application: The Ultimate Dry Fly Body: This is our absolute favorite dubbing for dry fly bodies. Because the synthetic fibers are so incredibly fine, it allows you to effortlessly spin thin, precision dubbing noodles to build beautifully tapered bodies on hooks ranging from tiny size 24 midges up to size 6 attractors. The Mr. Rapidan Connection: For fans of our signature regional patterns, the "Quill Gordon" colorway is a vital ingredient. We use this exact color to tie the bodies on all of our Mr. Rapidan Dry Fly and Mr. Rapidan Parachute Dry Fly patterns to perfectly mimic early spring mayfly hatches. Tying Bench Best Practice: When working with Fly Rite, treat it like gold—a little bit goes a long way. Use sparse, tiny amounts on your tying thread at a time, slowly building up the exact body shape and density you want.
