Fockea edulis grows in the northern region of South Africa and Namibia where its pebble-like tuber blends in with the surrounding rocks. A local name for the plant is “hottentot br ead” because the caudiciform is said to have a sweet, milky flavor. A summer grower that may stay evergreen with enough warmth through the winter. This is a great entry plant into caudiciforms being very forgiving to beginners.
