In the hands of Graham Brant, silverware becomes something closer to relic than utensil — objects that feel unearthed rather than assembled. A young metalsmith working with cast organic forms gathered near his home, Graham builds from sticks, pods, and fragments of the natural world, translating them into bronze, silver, and copper with sculptural intent. This one-of-a-kind three-piece set offers an early and striking introduction to his evolving body of work. Each piece begins with reclaimed silver-plated flatware heads, preserved as anchors of continuity. The spoon rises from a handle formed of two cast bronze cottonwood sticks, soldered and shaped into a vertical structure adorned with cast bronze seed pods and a wax-carved flourish near the bowl. At its base rests a single silver grain, a subtle but deliberate accent unique to this piece. The fork pairs its repurposed silver-plated head with a cast bronze stick handle decorated with a cast bronze juniper pod and gestural wax carving, the surfaces alternating between polish and texture. For the knife, Graham reshapes a silver-plated fork handle into the blade itself, forming and texturing it by hand so that its former life remains visible. The handle is constructed from a cast bronze wax carving and cast bronze seed pods, finished with a formed copper element that introduces a measured shift in tone and material. Fully functional yet unmistakably sculptural, this set stands comfortably at the table or on display.
