Forbidden brings together classical imagery and contemporary intervention through a surface built over time. Fragments of Renaissance-inspired figures emerge beneath layers of cyanotype, spray paint, pastel, graffiti, and gold leaf. Rather than concealing earlier decisions, the work allows them to remain visible, treating revision as part of the final image. The phrase Go For It cuts across the composition like an interruption, creating a dialogue between permanence and impulse, tradition and reinvention. Sacred references coexist with spontaneous marks, suggesting that preservation and rebellion are not necessarily opposing forces. Built through successive transformations, Forbidden reflects on the way images—and perhaps people themselves—change without completely abandoning what came before.Original work by Papayon — Latin American contemporary artist based in Houston, TX.
