Force Céleste is a brilliant example of why Cinsault has become one of the most exciting grapes in South Africa. Made by Johan Meyer under the Mother Rock label, the wine comes from old dry-farmed bush vines in the Swartland, where warm days, cooling Atlantic influences, and ancient granite soils combine to produce wines with remarkable freshness and character. Rather than chasing concentration or power, the focus here is on purity, energy, and drinkability. The first thing that stands out is how vibrant it feels. If your experience of South African red wine is mostly built around big Pinotage or powerful Bordeaux blends, this can come as a bit of a revelation.
