Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit. The Floating Phase: Like many woods, these pieces may float initially. We recommend soaking it thoroughly or boiling it. A large stone or heavy decor may be placed on top to ensure a non-waterlogged piece of wood stays submerged. Tannin Release: Like most aquarium driftwood, this will release tannins, giving your water a warm, "tea-colored" tint. This is a natural occurrence, and the effects will subside over time.
