Forest Pepper CO2 (Pure Jungle Essence) opens with a tingling spicy-citrus burst — pink pepper warmth shot through with bright aldehydic orange and lemon. Underneath sit soft tropical-fruit and floral facets that round the spice. The metallic-citrus character is closer to Sichuan pepper than to black pepper, despite the name. Use Forest Pepper CO2 to bring authentic peppery sparkle and citrus lift to colognes, modern fougères and spicy-woody accords. It works as a top-note enhancer that carries spicy presence into the heart of a composition. It also lifts dull citrus accords with a tingling, modern edge. Pair with bergamot, pink peppercorn oil and aldehyde C-10 for a sparkling modern citrus top, or use alongside cardamom, ginger CO2 and incense for a tingling oriental opening. A trace under rose lifts the floral with peppery warmth. Dose carefully — overdose pushes the metallic sparkle into harshness. Forest Pepper CO2 is extracted via supercritical CO2 from the dried fruits of Zanthoxylum rhetsa, known locally as Ma Khaen, a tree that grows wild in mountainous regions of northern Thailand and across Southeast Asia. The Pure Jungle Essence process uses CO2 alone — no co-solvents — at low temperature, preserving the volatile top notes that conventional steam distillation destroys. Despite its name, the species is unrelated to true black pepper (Piper nigrum) and belongs to the citrus family.
