Forge Motorsport's Twintercooler adds a second intercooler core in front of the MK7 GTI's factory radiator, intercooler, and A/C condenser pack, positioned directly in the path of cold air entering through the lower grille. It's designed to run alongside the factory core rather than replace it, giving the charge air two chances to shed heat instead of one. Forge's dyno and road testing showed the Twintercooler core alone, with no other modifications, produced a 20°C (69°F) drop in intake temperatures and a 10-15bhp gain on an otherwise stock car. Lower, more consistent intake temperatures matter even more once a car is remapped, where the factory ECU's limitations are removed and the engine can use the extra headroom.
