Trichostema dichotomum A small, self-seeding annual plant in the mint family with 2 or 3 blue, 2-lipped flowers at the tips of short branches arising from the leaf axils. Found in dry, open, sandy woodlands and around rock outcrops. Its native habitat runs from southern Maine south to Florida, west to Texas and north to Missouri and Michigan. The flowers are borne in late summer and fragrant. An annual herbaceous forb with opposite, simple leaves, and square, erect, hairy stems. The leaves are covered in hairs and are lightly sticky. The long, curled stamens characterize this dainty little plant.
