Formic Pro™ is used to treat hives for varroa mites*. For application, daytime temperatures must be between 50° F - 85° F (10° C- 29° C). Strips are laid across the tops of the brood frames and are safe to use during the honey flow! Wear the recommended safety equipment: hand, eye, and skin protection. There are two treatment options: Option One: 2 strips for 14 days. Option Two: 1st strip for 10 days remove and replace with 2nd strip for an additional 10 days. 2 treatments (4 strips) per pouch. Store indoors in original container out of direct sunlight. *Varroa mites are parasites that weaken honey bees and transmit viruses to them. The mites reproduce under the brood cap and feed on the developing larvae. When the new bee emerges from its cell, mites emerge with it and transfer to other brood cells. Due to the exponential nature of Varroa reproduction, colony infestation levels can quickly get out of control. Viruses accumulate in the colony. Higher Varroa levels further weaken the bees rendering them unable to survive. Note: Most mites are hidden from our view, so don't depend on looking at bees on frames to assess mites.
