The three figures represent the Moirai, the Greek goddesses of fate who spun the th read of destiny for each mortal and divine being. Moirai (e) means ‘parts,’ ‘portion,’ and ‘right.' The trinity are comprised of Klotho, the “Spinner” of the thread of life, Lachesis, “obtainer by lot or proportion” who measured it, and Atropos, “without turn,” who symbolises the inevitability of death or cutting of the thread.
