In 1938, Four Daughters packed movie palaces, making a star out of John Garfield and winning hearts with its appealing depiction of the Lemps, a family that shares an unshakeable b ond between parent and child, sister and sister. In 1939 the Lemps were back (Garfield's character, who died in the earlier film, makes a ghostly appearance) for another tender drama of everyday life.
