Freshly harvested, blanched, and then individually flash-frozen (IQF) for freshness and quality. Broccoli florets are great for steak sides, entrees, soups, salads, pasta, and casseroles! Steam in the microwave, boil, or sautee in a pan for a quick and easy addition of vegetables to any meal or snack. Blanching is a non-chemical simple process of scalding the vegetables for 60 seconds in 90°C (200°F) hot water and then shock cooling in ice water to stop the cooking process. Blanching stops enzyme actions that cause loss of flavor, color, and texture, it also cleanses the surface of dirt and organisms, brightens the color, and helps to preserve the vitamins. Please note that blanching does not fully cook the vegetable, so cooking is recommended before consumption. For those who prefer a smaller option, we also offer organic broccoli in a 300g (10.5oz) pack from another producer. Due to repackaging, the 1kg bags do not hold the organic JAS certification mark, but rest assured the broccoli is produced within Japan's certified organic standards.
