The Millésime at François Secondé is a vintage Blanc de Blancs from Sillery Grand Cru, the only appellation that exclusively grows Chardonnay in the Montagne de Reims. Sillery's cellar master at Ruinart, Frédéric Panaïotis, has compared the Chardonnay of Sillery to Corton-Charlemagne in Burgundy: late-maturing, complex and long-ageing. A vertical tasting of five vintages (2012–2016) was held at the domaine in 2024 to mark the acquisition by Jérôme Groslambert, each vintage unique, each showing the evolution of Sillery's chalk-driven Chardonnay over time. Dosage 6 g/l. Tasting notes: A wine of great delicacy and complexity, with the characteristic chalk-driven mineral and saline tension of Sillery. The Chardonnay develops notes of citrus, stone fruit and eventually honey and toast with extended ageing. Each vintage is its own story. Food pairing: A noble champagne for the table. Exceptional with fine fish, noble shellfish, veal with cream sauce and aged Comté or Beaufort.
