Named for a type of ice present in spring thaws, this vase is patterned with copper blue and white murrine. Murrine are disks of patterned glass and these were formed by layering c opper blue, white and clear glass into a cylinder, drawing out that cylinder into a rod, annealing it and then cutting it up into thin disks. Those disks were later assembled into a sheet, tacked together in a reheating furnace, and then rolled up on the surface of a bubble to produce the pattern seen here. This vase is currently on display/sale at Laura's Custom Framing and Fine Art, on Chestnut Street in Emmaus, PA.
