How to Use the Fredstone In order to utilize your Fredstone at its fullest potential, it is recommended that both the grill (or oven) and stone are thoroughly heated before you begin. For Charcoal Grill Use: Place the Fredstone on the grate immediately following the placement of heated charcoal within the grill. Remember to close the lid and make sure that both dampers are open. Wait for the grill to be thoroughly heated, giving the grill and stone time to reach the desired temperature. Once the temperature is achieved, the Fredstone is ready to use. For Gas Grill Use: Place the Fredstone on the grate, close the lid, and turn on the grill to the proper temperature settings. Once the temperature is met, the stone is ready for use. For Oven Use: Place the Fredstone in the oven, close the door, and set the oven to the proper temperature. Once the temperature is met, the stone is ready for use. Bake breads, pizzas, cookies and more with the even temperature created by the Fredstone. Available for XL, XL JD, LG, JR & Round. Care & Maintenance After unpacking your Fredstone it is ready to use. NOTE: THE ST0NE MUST NOT COME INTO DIRECT CONTACT WITH WATER, AND SHOULD BE KEPT DRY AND STORED INDOORS. Due to Fredstone being made of porous materials, it is recommended to use either baking paper, an aluminum baking plate, or a reusable silicone mat to protect the surface of the stone against moisture. When used for baking pizza it is recommended to bake directly on the stone. If any toppings (e.g. cheese) is burned on the stone, it can easily be removed with fine grade sandpaper (grit 400 or higher). Never use sharp objects to clean the stone. If the stone is used for other purposes than baking (e.g. to cook a roast pork) it is important to use baking paper, or to wrap the stone in tin foil to protect the stone from hot grease. It is recommended to keep the grill lid closed as much as possible, when baking or cooking, in order to maintain a stable temperature within the grill. Constant opening of the grill will result in the loss of precious heat, longer cook times, discoloration of baked goods, and an undesirable result.
