The Pretorian FREEDOM Device Switcher allows one wired assistive switch to control up to four different switch-accessible devices. Instead of repeatedly unplugging and reconnecting the switch, the user can choose which connected device they want to operate at any given time. Device selection can be controlled using a prolonged press of the main switch or through a separate select switch. This makes FREEDOM suitable for people who use either one-switch or two-switch access. The selected device is identified by an LED and an audible tone, helping the user confirm where the switch has been routed. The unit can be programmed to include two, three or four devices, preventing the user from having to move through unused channels. When one-switch access is used, the required extended press can be set to one, two, three or four seconds. Once configured, the keypad can be locked to prevent settings from being changed accidentally. FREEDOM has a rechargeable battery designed to provide several weeks of typical use between charges. If the battery becomes exhausted or the power fails, the main switch is automatically routed to device 1. This allows the most important compatible device to remain accessible until power is restored. Key Features Routes one wired assistive switch to up to four compatible devices Removes the need to unplug and reconnect the switch when changing devices Allows the user to choose independently which connected device to control Suitable for one-switch or two-switch access Changes devices using an extended press of the main switch or a separate select switch Adjustable extended press time of one, two, three or four seconds Can be configured for two, three or four active devices Unused channels can be removed from the selection sequence LEDs and audible tones identify the selected device Different tone indicates when the selection returns from device 4 to device 1 Lockable keypad helps prevent accidental changes to the settings Four fully isolated outputs allow connection to devices that do not share the same electrical ground Rechargeable lithium battery provides several weeks of typical use between charges Audible and visible low-battery warnings Can remain connected to a suitable external power source if required Automatic power-saving mode helps conserve the battery Fail-safe design routes the main switch to device 1 if the battery is exhausted or power fails SEN and Access Benefits Enables several switch-accessible devices to be operated using one familiar switch Reduces reliance on another person to move a switch cable between devices Supports greater independence when moving between communication, computer access and environmental-control equipment Allows the main switch to be positioned around the user’s most reliable controlled movement Offers one-switch access for users who cannot operate a separate selection switch Offers two-switch access where separating device selection from device operation is more suitable Adjustable press duration can be matched more closely to the user’s movement and control Audible confirmation can help users who cannot easily see the channel indicators Removing unused channels makes device selection quicker and more straightforward Locked settings help maintain a consistent access arrangement Compatible Devices Communication aids and AAC devices with a conventional switch input Call systems with a compatible switch input Computers, tablets and mobile phones connected through a suitable switch interface Switch-accessible environmental-control equipment Other compatible low-voltage devices with a conventional 3.5mm switch-input socket Some equipment, including many computers, phones and tablets, requires an additional switch interface before it can be connected to FREEDOM.
