French antique firedogs, brass chenets. This is a charming old pair of French brass firedogs. The decoration is splendid with floral swirls and lion head masks. The arms that come out of the back are in iron. Condition: They have been well used in their lifetime and as you can see they have many years of accumulated soot engrained into the surface and also there are some white deposits in the deepest crevices from old cleaning products, I have shown this in the photos. We have cleaned them up to some degree but if required you could clean them more and take them back to a shiney brass finish. The iron arms that come out of the back are very rusted from their years in the fireplace but are still strong an solid.
