Freya Betts: The idea behind this artwork was inspired by Will’s constant battle with the Upside Down and the monsters that emerge from there. I have tried to capture the raw fear in Will’s expression of knowing that something dark is behind him and about to take him over. The series resonated with me because of the reference to the consciousness - I believe the mind is powerful (and underestimated) outside of the series, too. I also felt that maybe this kind of craziness / experiments may actually happen in this world, and there’s certain things that we don’t know about - it would be amazing and scary to think that there could be some kind of parallel universe, other dimension or portal that has been opened and we just don’t know about it (yet!). freyabetts.co.uk
