An idea…Virginia captured women who sat for her in the spirit of Frida Kahlo. I took those photographs and created paintings. What was the initial pull for such an idea? Did Virginia begin this series of events, or did spirit enter Virginia at some point and time and plant a seed? Where do ideas come from? Each sitter brought forth their inner Frida, an embodiment of power, strength, femininity, masculinity, softness, hardness, vulnerability... the spectrum of human emotion and powers. Let us linger in the possibility that we will never know, we don’t need to know... we need only follow the glowing beat of our hearts' desire.
