Frithia pulchra, commonly known as the Frithia Window or Fairy Elephant’s Foot, is a small, slow-growing succulent native to South Africa. It is well-known for its unique “windowed” leaves—fleshy, cylindrical leaves with translucent, flat tips that allow sunlight to penetrate deep into the plant’s tissues for photosynthesis. The plant grows mostly underground with only the leaf tips visible, making it an intriguing and unusual addition to any succulent collection. In spring and summer, Frithia pulchra produces delicate, pink to magenta daisy-like flowers that add charm to its subtle appearance.
