Frog and Toad Together by Arnold Lobel is the second book in the Frog and Toad series: five more short stories about two friends and the small business of getting through a day. Toad plants a garden and then shouts at the seeds to make them grow. Toad bakes cookies, Frog helps him eat them, and the two of them go looking for willpower. When both of them are frightened, they agree they are being brave together. Lobel wrote and illustrated it himself, and the book earned a Newbery Honor after its first publication in 1972. Like the rest of the series it sits at Level Two in the I Can Read line, written for kids reading on their own who still appreciate some company along the way.
