Commissioned by creator Annie Willems and her community, From Darkness, We Bloom carries the weight of thousands of unspoken stories. In its first layer, Leah hand-wrote the names of child sexual abuse perpetrators submitted by survivors from Annie’s TikTok community. Those names remain sealed beneath every brushstroke, transformed—not erased—by color, light, and life. What emerged is a garden of strength, a visual map of healing. Every flower, bird, and insect represents a different stage of recovery: The butterfly and hummingbird symbolize growth and movement toward the light—the courage to live openly again. The crow, wings outstretched, watches protectively over the garden, representing those who have gained strength and now guard others on their path. The frog, nestled among the petals, embodies quiet resilience—the survivors who find peace in blending in, healing softly without fanfare. The sunrise above marks renewal—the moment when darkness finally gives way to hope. Because healing is not a single story. It’s a thousand unique journeys, each one finding its own way toward the sun.
