The Circle We Make gathers sixteen paintings that hold the thresholds of birth and early motherhood, rendered on both silk and raw canvas. Each material is chosen for its response to pigment — canvas grounding the mark, silk dispersing it with lightness — mirroring the shifting states of the body and mind in transition. Moving between abstraction and figuration, Jade allows forms to surface through repeated washes of color. Curves recall the arch of a back, a dark pool suggests shadowed hands, while soft edges evoke the way memory and sensation blur through exhaustion, closeness, and surrender. These works trace acts of holding and being held, the quiet intimacies of care, and the unseen threads that bind one life to another.
