FRONTIER SCUM is a rules-lite Acid Western roleplaying game. A self-destructive and violent take on Spaghetti Westerns, about wanted outlaws making their mark on an unreal Lost Frontier. Probably getting shot before having the chance to shoot. A rough-and-tumble world of insatiable greed where scum live one slug from the grave. Inspired by such things as El Topo, Dead Man, and Bone Tomahawk. Inside you will find all the rules you need to play, guidelines for creating characters along with their guns and stolen horses, an introduction to the Lost Frontier, a complete adventure ‘Escape the Organ Rail’, and tons of inspiration tables & tools for NPCs, hunting, carousing, bounties, odd jobs, loot and strange relics. All new for this edition are 19 new backgrounds, new tables for names and optional rules for gun hands. About the game (courtesy of TTRPG Fanatics) Mechanically, Frontier Scum started as a Mörk Borg-inspired game but evolved into its own thing. It uses a very lightweight d20 chassis with four core stats: Grit (toughness) Slick (charm / agility) Wits (brains) Luck (fortune) Combat is intentionally lethal and fast. One of the signature design choices: guns usually auto-hit unless the shot is unusually difficult, which makes every firefight feel dangerous and tense. A famously weird mechanic: your hat can save your life. Instead of taking damage, you can sometimes lose your hat — very Western, very Frontier Scum. Characters also gain conditions like Drunk or Miserable, which affect play in funny and miserable ways.
