The Alocasia Frydek (Alocasia micholitziana) is a stunning variety of houseplant that displays velvety dark green leaves with stark white veining. It has grown in popularity throughout the years and is now commonly grown indoors as a houseplant. Care As with most types of Alocasia, keeping the frydek happy can be a bit tricky, but its stunning foliage makes the challenge oh-so-worth-it. One of the most important aspects of caring for this plant is ensuring that it gets enough moisture. These tropical aroids enjoy regular watering, high humidity, and will suffer in dry environments and prolonged periods of drought. It's important to note, however, that you should not keep the soil soggy or you risk root rot. Frydek does best in indirect, hot sunlight that it is not exposed to prolonged periods of direct sun as that will burn its velvety leaves. Growth Habit Under the right conditions, Alocasia frydek has a moderate to fast growth rate. Lack of light and humidity can lead to slow or stunted growth. Drooping leaves on an Alocasia frydek can mean a number of things – but a lack of water and/or humidity are the most common reasons. Toxicity Pet owners beware, the Alocasia frydek, like all plants in its genus, is considered toxic.
