Sinamay fabric is a staple in millinery and a favourite choice for creating hats, fascinators, and decorative trims. Made from the fine fibres of the abaca tree, it is machine woven for a more consistent, high-quality finish. Compared to hand-woven alternatives, machine weaving produces a more uniform structure with fewer knots, flaws, or irregularities. Our sinamay has a medium level of stiffening, giving it excellent versatility. It is firm enough to support structured shapes, yet flexible enough to be shaped, layered, or used for delicate trims. For extra structure, additional stiffener can be applied if desired. Available in a wide selection of colours, this is sold by the metre and measures approximately 90cm wide. Orders of multiple metres are supplied as continuous lengths wherever possible. As a natural material, sinamay shows subtle variations in tone and texture, and slight differences may occur between batches. These characteristics add to the charm and individuality of each creation. We also offer individual sample swatches in our store for colour approval.
