The 2022 emissions step on Class 8 diesel changed the fuel system before it changed anything else. Higher injection pressure. Tighter post-injection timing. Less margin for any con taminant that managed to slip past the primary separator. The FF019 was specified for that step, for Volvo D-series and Mack MP-series engines running through the Davco 380-family housings that became the fleet standard around the same time. A spin-on separator with a drain bowl, sized for a fuel rail that no longer forgives the kind of trace water that earlier engines just burned through.
