Transformations of Parent Functions - Golf Game (reflections, shifts, stretches & compressions): This is a fun way to work through practice problems with function transformations. Students "play" each hole on the course (5 hole-worksheet) by pulling a "driver" card, then an "iron" and then as many "putter" cards as necessary to sink the ball (get one right). Each card has a question about transforming a parent function. The golf worksheet is used to record answers and scores. A correct answer is 1 stroke. An incorrect answer lands your ball in the sand/water/etc. and forces you to add a stroke. Each player checks the opponent's answers (Answer charts are included). Some special cards give chances to get a "birdie" by answering a challenging problem correctly. The student then hits directly onto the green. He/she can then skip the iron card and go straight to putting. Includes: - Reflections across x- axis & y-axis - Horizontal & Vertical Shifts - Vertical & horizontal stretches and compressions - Combination of transformations (only when order does NOT matter) _________________________________________________ Reviews from other Math Teachers: - This may be one of the best items I have every purchased on TpT. It was perfect for my Pre-Calc class to recall/review transformations! - I prepped my students for this the day before I knew I was having a sub, and then they play when the sub was there. Went well overall! - Great practice activity! Students had excellent discussions while playing! - My students really worked well with this activity! - A great review at year end.
