The purple glaze shifts with the light and from cup to cup, sometimes leaning more blue, sometimes more red. ... the cups are definitely less subtle than the gaiwans in their differences. Also stacking neatly, carry a bit of texture, and feel raw and real in the hand. The kind of cups you reach for without thinking, only to notice later just how much character they hold. Each one is thrown “off the hump,” so no two are identical. They’re all kin, but each with its own personality. Made from Mark’s single-source Lizella clay, dug in Georgia, and finished with a purple glaze created exclusively for Tao Teaware, these cups feel as personal as it gets. Note: There are two different sets shown to show you the variety based on where the cups were placed in the kiln. There are also many that are between the two extremes.
