Gamblin PVA Size PVA (Poly Vinyl Acetate) is a contemporary size for fabric support. On linen and cotton canvas, it prevents the fabric from absorbing atmospheric moisture that eve ntually causes swelling and shrinking, and ultimately, paint cracking. PVA Sizing retains its flexibility. Neutral pH means that it will not yellow. PVA Size is a sizing material, not a ground. It's used to seal the raw canvas fibers (cotton or linen) to protect them from absorbing moisture and from direct contact with oil paint, which can deteriorate the fabric over time. It soaks into the fabric and forms a flexible, protective film. It has a neutral pH, won't yellow, and remains flexible.
