Latin name - Garcinia xanthochymus Gamboge, sometimes referred to as lemon mangosteen, is a sour & sweet fruit in the Garcinia (mangosteen) family. It ripens to a bright yellow or orange, and tastes creamy, sweet, and almost as sour as a lemon. The tree grows slowly but can reach up to 20 ft over time. The fruit seems to be present year round, but most of them ripen in summer. The new leaves on a Gamboge tree are bright, highlighter pink, before turning to a deep green. The canopy is dense and upright. Like most Garcinias, the Gamboge tree loves water and will prefer a bit of shade as a young tree, but can easily adapt to full sun. _______________________________________________________ Size: 10-15 ft.
