The top is worked in the round to the underarms, then worked flat for shoulder caps; sleeves are also worked in the round to underarms and then divided and worked flat to the shoulders. Short rows cleverly counteract the difference in row gauge between the two stitch patterns, while enhancing the fit at shoulders.
