This is a paper or composite gasket sealing the differential unit to the axle casing on Land Rover Rover-type axles. It prevents differential oil from escaping at the joint face between the diff head and the axle tube housing, and a failed or compressed gasket will result in oil leaks at the diff-to-case mating surface, leading to lubricant loss and potential differential damage. Correct replacement is essential when removing the differential for overhaul or when addressing an existing leak. Key Features Seals the mating face between the differential head and axle casing on Rover-type axles Should be fitted dry or with a thin sealant film as appropriate to the mating surfaces Fits Rover-type axles only - not compatible with non-Rover (e.g. Salisbury) axle configurations Inspect the diff flange and casing face for corrosion or damage before fitting; replace alongside diff oil seals if doing a full differential strip Vehicle Fitment Fits Defender (1986–2006), Discovery 1 (1989–1998), Discovery 2 (1998–2004), Range Rover Classic, and Series 1, 2, 2A and 3 - all Rover axles only.
