The Gates Predator A section is a premium narrow V-belt designed for the most demanding industrial drives. Predator belts deliver higher power ratings in the same drive envelope as standard belts, reducing the number of belt strands required and cutting drive operating costs. Double-layer bareback cover protects against slippage and punctures, resists debris, and allows the belt to slip under extreme shock-load conditions without excessive heat buildup, prolonging belt life. Aramid tensile cords have roughly half the stretch of a standard polyester-cord belt, so Predator belts do not run in and equalise tension the way conventional belts do — for any multi-belt drive (2 or more strands on the same pulley), order a Gates-matched set and do not mix individually-ordered Predator belts on one drive. Classical sections run A, B, C, D, E (or Z in metric) — cross-reference to the metric ISO equivalent (13A, 17A, 22A) where needed. Narrow sections (3V/SPA, 5V/SPB, 8V/SPC) carry more power in the same envelope. The XP series (XPZ/XPA/XPB/XPC) are notched versions for improved flex efficiency.
