What It Does The Smart Access Cable is the hardware interface HP Tuners requires to read, write, and run special functions on 2018 and newer Dodge, Jeep, RAM, and Chrysler vehicles built with a factory security gateway. Without it, MPVI4 cannot reach the controllers through the OBDII port on these vehicles. It is a pass-through harness. It installs once at the security module and stays in the vehicle. Why 2018 And Newer Vehicles Need One From 2018, FCA platforms added a security gateway module between the diagnostic port and the vehicle network. Factory tooling is authenticated through it. Aftermarket interfaces are not. Read and write requests are refused at the gateway Calibration flashing fails or never starts Special functions and module communication return errors The harness restores a direct path to the network so the tuning interface can do its work. Required Required to flash an unlocked 2022-2024 Cummins ECM If your 6.7L Cummins has been through the HP Tuners RAM CM2450B ECM Upgrade Service, this cable is mandatory. Unlocking the ECM does not remove the factory security gateway, so MPVI4 still cannot write to the controller without this harness installed. Vehicle Coverage HP Tuners lists this harness for all 2018 and newer Dodge, Jeep, RAM, and Chrysler vehicles equipped with a factory security gateway. Applications Dieselr supports: 2019-2024 RAM 2500 / 3500 6.7L Cummins 2018-2022 RAM 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel 2020 Jeep Wrangler, Gladiator and Grand Cherokee 3.0L EcoDiesel Other 2018+ FCA vehicles carrying the same gateway module Also required to log the ZF8-HP2 transmission. Note: the cable requires an active internet connection during use. Installation One-time install, no cutting or splicing. Roughly fifteen minutes. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery terminal. Locate the security module in the vehicle. Remove the wider plug from the security module and connect it to the end of the cable. Plug the cable into the now vacant port on the security module. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Plug your MPVI4 into the factory OBDII port and proceed as normal. Module location varies by platform. HP Tuners support will confirm the location for your year, make, and model. What This Is Not Not a tuning device Not a tune file Not an ECM unlock or upgrade service Not a substitute for MPVI4 credits Specifications Manufacturer part number: H-002-01 Enables read, write, and special functions on 2018+ Dodge, Jeep, RAM, and Chrysler Required to log ZF8-HP2 Requires an internet connection Works with the HP Tuners MPVI platform and VCM Suite
