GemDent Barbed Broaches: High-Efficiency Pulp Extirpation The GemDent Barbed Broach is a specialized diagnostic and therapeutic instrument designed for the rapid removal of pulp tissue from the root canal. Precision-manufactured from soft, flexible stainless steel, these broaches feature hundreds of micro-barbs that act as "mechanical anchors" to engage and retrieve the neurovascular bundle in a single motion. Designed for initial entry into a wide canal, the GemDent Barbed Broach is the most efficient way to clear organic debris before beginning your shaping sequence. 📐 The "Jagged Barb" Advantage: Engineered for Grip The GemDent Barbed Broach features a Round Core with Recessed Barbs, offering a specific mechanical profile for tissue retrieval: 360° Tissue Engagement: The barbs are positioned at a specific angle along the entire length of the working end. This ensures that once the broach is rotated, it "snags" the pulp tissue from every side of the canal wall. One-Piece Retrieval: By entangling the collagen fibers of the pulp, the broach allows the clinician to remove the entire pulp "string" in one piece, significantly reducing the amount of necrotic tissue left behind for irrigation. Ultra-Slim Profile: Available in sizes as small as #0, the thin core allows the broach to slide past the pulp to the apex without pushing the tissue further into the periapical space. Flexible Soft-Steel Core: Unlike cutting files, broaches are made from softer steel to allow them to follow canal curvatures without "shelving" the dentin, focusing all energy on tissue capture rather than tooth removal. ⚙️ Key Performance Features Precision-Cut Barbs: Each barb is cut at a mathematically optimized angle to ensure it can slide in easily but "locks" into tissue during the withdrawal stroke. ISO Color-Coded Handles: Ergonomic plastic handles provide high tactile sensitivity, allowing you to feel when the barbs have successfully engaged the pulp. Short-Length Design: Optimized for easy access in posterior teeth and restricted openings. High-Purity Stainless Steel: Resists corrosion and maintains the sharpness of the micro-barbs through the procedure. Disposable Safety: Designed for single-use to ensure maximum barb sharpness and prevent cross-contamination of organic tissue. 📊 Technical Specifications Feature Details Material Soft-Tempered Stainless Steel Cross-Section Jagged / Multi-Barb Hook Motion Insert, Rotate (90°), and Withdraw Sizes Available Assorted #0-6 Packaging 10 Broaches per Pack 🛠️ Clinical Applications Pulp Extirpation: Removing the vital pulp in cases of acute pulpitis. Debris Retrieval: Removing cotton pellets, paper points, or loose organic debris from the canal. Diagnostic Scouting: Confirming the presence of vital tissue in suspected necrotic cases. 💡 Clinical Tip: The "Two-Thirds" Rule To prevent the barbs from locking into the dentin walls (which can cause the broach to snap), never use a broach that is too wide for the canal. Only insert the broach to two-thirds of the working length. Once inserted, rotate it only 90 to 180 degrees to "wind" the pulp onto the barbs, then withdraw in a single, steady motion.
