This 2022 Chardonnay was grown in Pearlstad Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA where the shallow topsoil quickly offer up fossilized sandstone from the Keasey Formation; this rare soil is made up of marine shoal from a time millions of years ago when volcanic ash rained down on the shallows of the inner-sea in the Willamette Valley, perfectly preserving the marine fossils that are now unearthed. The vines drink this up and the wine is imbued with that rich saline and crisp, bright texture. This wine was aged for 12 months in 30% new French Oak Puncheons, and the well-integrated intensity of the barrels spirals through the wine from start to finish while the ripe nectarine and peach fruit leaps gently around the palate.
