Colorful geometric composition by Russian artist Alexander Romanovich Levitsky (b. 1940), depicting a stylized Russian folk toy in layered blocks of red, green, blue, yellow and br own. Folk toys, fairs and other elements of Russian popular culture are recurring subjects in Levitsky’s work. Titled Русская игрушка (“Russian Toy”), dated 1995, and signed Alexander Levitsky along the lower margin. Presented under glass with a wide cream mat in a gold-tone metal frame.
