One of only 30 numbered copies printed on alfa paper from the Lafuma mills—the sole deluxe edition—of which this is one of the 10 not-for-sale copies (ours marked "e"). Signed and inscribed by the author: "To Monsieur Emmanuel Couvreux, in very friendly tribute. Simenon." Emmanuel Couvreux, known as "Maney," was a close associate of Robert Gallimard. Both held shares in Librairie Gallimard, the publishing enterprise founded by Gaston Gallimard on July 26, 1919, which merged the activities of the Nouvelle Revue Française and its publishing house. A beautiful copy, with a discreet restoration to a small tear at the foot, without loss. A rare deluxe edition, especially with an author’s inscription. Show more
