When you're looking for an aldehyde which isn't the usual C-10, C-11 and C-12, give Geraldehyde a try. Also know as geranyl acetaldehyde, this is a floral meets marine super-powered aldehyde. On its own it is a great way to add sparkle and flash to a citrus fragrance while contributing volume, but it also works as a booster to other aldehydic notes. It's marine quality also makes it a good partner to ozonics like Calone and the surprising sea-moss material Oceanol, also from IFF. When dosed carefully (under 0.1% typically) you can add radiance and lift to a scent. With ylang-ylang you get a wonderful synergy which makes this a great modern material to use in a Chanel No 5 type scent. From our own range this is great with Amazonia and Solafleur. It is also adds an inimitable twist to our highly popular Magnificent Mandarin.
