Gastroesophageal reflux disease (the name is often reduced to GERB) - a functional disease characterized by a combination of typical symptoms: heartburn (retrofernal heartburn), Acid or alkaline belching, belching due to posture (lying on the back), nightly belching, convulsions, painless swallowing disorder (dysphagia), irritating cough, cough at night, dysphony (hoarseness, aphony). These symptoms may be associated or not associated with erosive, inflammatory lesions of the mucous membrane of the esophagus. Improper nutrition or a stress lifestyle can significantly affect the production of gastric juice, an increase in the acidity of the stomach and the formation of irritating and painful burning, especially after eating. This excess acidity can also be felt at the entrance to the stomach with burning, spasms, bloating and nausea. GERB can also occur during sleep, as in the lying position gastric juice enters the esophagus. Since the walls of the esophagus are not suitable for gastric juice, this causes a burning sensation in the chest.
