Louis Bouillot's name might be new for many since he only established his estate in 2002 and doesn't have the Grands Crus name to incite speculation. Louis is however, the recipien t of multi-generational family of winemakers and therefore inherited a wealth of old vineyards scattered throughout the region. Louis is married to the well-known Ghislaine Barthod, whose Estate produces some of the most compiling Chambolle-Musigny. Their son Clement joined the team as soon as he was able to do so. The duo works meticulously together in the vineyards to produce fruits of intensity and power. The style is classic at its core: delicate, soft and showing great terroir-definition. Louis's 2018 are unlike many in Burgundy and will definitely age with grace. 89-91/100 'From eight different lieux-dits and averaging over sixty years of age, Boillot's 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village reveals aromas of red cherries, cassis and sweet soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, succulent palate with fine concentration and chalky structure.
